A * IS BORN

This project served as the highlight of the final look in my second-year collection, *Bloodlines and Frequencies*. The collection explored my relationship with culture and identity, particularly my resistance to the expectation that I should always create work that directly references my heritage. However, within this collection, I chose to acknowledge both sides of my lineage.

The first two looks paid tribute to the contrasting influences that shaped me: the vibrancy and boldness of the Ndebele women I grew up around, and the quieter presence of my Ghanaian heritage, which I experienced largely through absence due to my father's limited role in my life. The third look, presented in black and white, symbolized a printer gradually running out of ink, representing fading memories, fragmented connections, and the incomplete understanding of one's roots.

The collection culminates in a dramatic tulle ensemble adorned with bold star earrings. This final look symbolizes transformation and emergence: despite the complexities, absences, and inheritances that came before, a star is born. It represents carrying the lessons, strength, and influence of previous generations forward into my future creative practice.
